VS Gallery

A collaborative project: the main visual and spatial concept for the VS Gallery project was developed by architects Nataliia Nazarova and Anastasia Tupikova of POISK design bureau.
Andrey Yanshin, founder of LOGIC, was responsible for the structural and architectural aspects of the project.
The main concept of the phygital art gallery is adaptability. The idea of a transformable space tailored to human needs originates from the principles of the Japanese Metabolism movement of the mid-20th century. Contemporary digital art can take on various physical forms, so the main challenge was to create a space capable of accommodating different types of installations, artistic works and exhibition scenarios.

«Empty» space
This approach formed the basis of the spatial zoning: a “clean” empty room serving as the exhibition hall, an office area combined with a private meeting space, and a utility zone distinguished by its colour.
Подвижные экраны
The concept was brought to life through the use of movable screens. The structural design and mechanism of the system allow the screens to be repositioned and rotated by 90 degrees, with their placement and angle adjustable as needed. All transformations of the wall system are controlled remotely via a mobile application.
These features make it possible to fully transform the exhibition space and adapt it to the needs of phygital artists.
Metal volumes
The versatility of the space is also reflected in the interior elements.
Metal volumes of precise geometric form — cubes and parallelepipeds — can be freely moved around the gallery. Their multifunctionality is expressed in their purpose: they serve both as pedestals for exhibition pieces and as seating for visitors, and can also be assembled into large-scale installations when needed.
Panoramic glazing
The panoramic glazing on the facade was also incorporated into the design to provide natural light for daytime events.
The architects developed a system of pivoting display windows that can be set at the required angle to optimise the amount of natural light.
On the reverse side of these vitrines, TV screens are installed, functioning as digital posters visible from the street.
Materials & colours
The main materials and colours used in the design include metal, concrete, white, purple and grey. Each of the pivoting screens is clad in a composite material that imitates a brushed metal surface.
The metal planes add expressiveness and dynamism to the space through the highlights and reflections created by the displayed works and installations.
Adaptability
In addition to digital art, the gallery also features physical artworks, which is why white and grey are used in the wall finishes — providing a universal background for their display.
The purple shade, selected in accordance with the VS Gallery brand identity, serves as a colour accent that highlights the gallery’s functional office and utility zones: the office, server room, cloakroom and bathroom.
